This photo is from this large book by Chris Chant and Richard Jones. The book contains illustrations of our friend the multicoloured Mk V, which puts one on one's guard. The photo caption says this is "a Vichy tank captured in Syria in June 1941." Two things arise: a) what's going on with the gun and turret, and b) are the date and location possible? Must check my WWII history.

Thank you, Charles. It had crossed my mind that it might be a BS, but I didn't think they would have been so far afield. Have now done my WWII homework, and the caption is entirely plausible. Much obliged.

Definitively! And some turrets even finished their life as pillboxes in French AOF as far I know. Regarding the BS in Syria or Tunisia, they were lightly modified with the removing of the pontoon devices on the side and the winch originally fitted in the turret rear.
