Hello

I've been asked to repaint an A7V model. Unfortunately, while I am fascinated by the aircraft of WWI, I know little about the armour, particularly the A7V which I've always thought looked like a shipping container on tracks.

Anyway, I noticed when googling for references, most roads lead to the Landships forum, so here I am. Any help or guidance about the colours and markings of A7Vs would be appreciated particularly if you can tell me where I can source decals in 1/35 scale.

The owner is undecided on the subject at this stange, but being a Brisbane resident, Mephisto would have to be an option. I'd probably be more comfortable painting one of the more distinctly coloured subjects

According to Hundleby & Strasheim the A7Vs were delivered painted in feldgrau - which may have been anything from pale grey through to dark green. They received various colour schemes, often changing colours during overhauls. H & S hypothesise that the paints used were Belgian railway paints - red-brown, green and clay yellow since the main workshop for the A7Vs was located in the railway workshops at Monceau-sur-Sambre.

Talk to Michel at Black Lion decals for 1/35 A7V decals (he's one of the sponsors of Landships II).

PM me for contacts in the Brisbane area who have built A7V models.

Welcome David. Afraid you will have to dis-count Mephisto ! It was an Early A7V and not of the type depicted in the 1/35 scale kits,unless the model owner did some conversion work ? Nothing is ever straight forward !!!
