Bonjour James,

Belt feeds for Hotchkiss M 1914 was also used by French tanks during WW1.

It was an assembly of metal strips plate from 3 cartridges.

In the Schneider's album "Les chars Français.com" from Antoine Misner, see on photo number 268.

I agree that circular ammunition drums were those from Reibel machinegun. During WW1 the belt feeds was in wooden box.

Bonne après-midi - Michel

Just noticed in the pics of the Saumur Renault (on the AMMS site that TCT was kind enough to point out) that it isn't in 1914-18 condition. There are circular ammunition drums in the crew compartment - at least 24. As we know, the Hotchkiss M1914 used metal strips. It emerges that the drums are for the Reibel M1931 , a much later modification. The photos were taken in 1997, and a lot has happened in the world of tank research and restoration since then, so it might have been put back in WWI order. Will be going to Saumur shortly, so will check. But it does imply that the partition/bulkhead could also be an inter-war mod.
