Emhar MkV correction list
Permalink Closed

Hi everybody!

I am new in this forum and so I am in WWI AFV modelling; an oldhand hand though on WWII AFVs. I am cuurently planning to built my first WWI model and thouht of the Emhar MkV kit.

From my minor knowledge I know that there are some corrections that must be done on this kit. Also there are some changes to be done to depict a MkIV -this is what actually I would like to build-. I was wondering if someone has a list of these corrections and changes. It would be most helping to me since my bibliography is very limitedat the moment.

I would really appreciate any help.

Nice to be with you friends!

                                                                                 Best Regards

hi
first of all there is a Mk.IV kit both male and female!

as for the Mk.V, you will need to add rails, possibly change machineguns to hotchkiss (depends on the tank your doing)

major porblems
bad dimensions, rivets incorrect due to dimension error (this is hard to fix)

so its hard to make an accurate model, but a decent model can be made

hope this helps

Nikolas!

Welcome to Great War Modelling!

Just a question, in order to answer your question: what scale are you talking about: 1/72 or 1/35? That's - of course - imperative to know.

If it is 1/72, you can find a pretty comprehensive discussion of the kits and it's merits here on the site. Just look at: http://www.landships.freeservers.com/emhar_mk4_kitreview.htm

All the best

  Hi Peter and Eugene

First of all thank you for replying my post. I was out of town and just red your replies.

The MkIV I want to make is in 1/35 and I plan to use the Emhar 1/35 kit to make a male one. I understans that his will not be so easy so my next question is do you thing that the Tauromodels A7V will be an easier project? I am experienced in superdetailing and schratch building but I would like to start my WWI "carrier" with something that I will enjoy. So what do you thing?

        Thanks a lot for help.

                                                                     My Best regards

a7v kit is fun, but it has some problems, check my review of it on this site!
also tracks are the main problem, but you can fix that, dont use the metal rods the kit gives, use heat streached spruce for the connecting pins, the tracks are the hardest part,
over all the kit is very nice, it has its problems but its a fun project, I do recomend picking up a book on the a7v before you start this project

good luck

thank you for your help. I have already read your review. I have ordered some books on the A7v that must on their way to me now. I think I will proceed with the A7v then. Thank you again for your help and advice.
