Charlies correct about the idlers there three types two wood and one cast, the four digit number is not a factory number but is valid... at least two, three and four figure numbers occur on some FTs in this position, I have no idea what for but the one at Bovi has 13.....

Cheerswink

Edit: Sorry I meant registration number here smile

Great news, but why do they use this metallic wheels, just like RPM? It was fitted on the tank after the end of the war.

If the FT modelled was built by Berliet it would have had cast steel idlers.

More objectionable is the 4 digit no. on the Meng model - "4387" is not valid as an FT factory number.

See Landships II FT article

Charlie

The Bovington FT has the registration no. 66016 - the registration nos for Renault built FTs start at 66001, 13 could be the factory number - there

isn't an exact match between registration and factory numbers.

There's no sign of a registration no. on the Meng model - a factory number in the 4000 series suggests it was built by Delaunay-Belleville

but the factory numbers for this manufacturer tanks ran 4001-4281.

Regards,

Charlie

Hi Charlie I see your point that does make sense.. so the bovi FT would be no 13 on the Renault production line but the sixteenth one registered...
