Known owners of Kampfwagen-Erinnerungsabzeichen
Permalink

Gentlemen,

Depending on source 99, 100 or around 100 Erinnerungsabzeichen für die ehemaligen Besatzungen deutscher Kampfwagen were awarded. However I know names of only 4 owners:

Joseph "Sepp" Dietrich (proof: numerous photos)

Ernst Volckheim (proof: photos)

Theodor Larsen (proof: award certificate)

Alfred Geyer (proof: award certificate)

Does anyone know more? Of course some photos of other owners can be found in the Internet (especially wehrmacht-awards.com forum), but without names.

Cheers,

Albert

Hauptmann Steinhardt (pictures & "Kriegsstammrolle")
Leutnant Theunissen (pictures & his handwritten CV)
Feldwebel Fischer (pictures - identified him in combination with some letters in Lt. Paul Vietzes private documents)
Feldwebel Eggert (pictures, award certificate & newspapers)
Leutnant Müller (pictures)
Oberleutnant Knoop (pictures)

I have seen many more, but couldn't identify until now.

btw: Vietze didn't get the Kampfwagen-Erinnerungsabzeichen awarded.

Great, thank you, your knowledge and research you made is very impressive! It would be great if you wrote article about known owners of Kampfwagenabzeichen. I'd surely buy a magazine or book containing such information.

I'm pretty sure that Rainer Strasheim, as the world's leading expert on early German armour, also knows a lot about it, however he didn't write much (there was a small mention about Kampfwagenabzeichen in "The German A7V tank..." from 1990 and I think he didn't write about it in his other publications).

Well .... it is a lot of realy hard work. The book will be about the Kampfwagen-Erinnerungsabzeichen itself. Originals & fakes and some stories of the awarded persons of course.

I thought you were joking about writing a book! That would be great! But please - don't make us wait 20 years wink How many years you think you'll need?

Albert, You mention here in your 2013 post that Heinz Theunissen's handwritten CV still exists. Can you tell me where I might be able to see - or find - a copy of this? Thanks Mark
