The tank in the postcard is a Renault NC27 - a fairly unsuccessful vehicle which was intended to replace the FT.

Taki (http://www3.plala.or.jp/takihome/NC.html) says that the IJA imported 10 NC27s in 1930 to bulk up their tank numbers.

Although the Type 89 Yi Go production had started by 1930 the numbers of indigenous tanks  available was too few to form a tank force.

I believe the Japanese had no more success with their NC27s than anyone else who acquired them had.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks Charlie - I've looked at a lot of Renault photos, but don't think I'd come across any of that before.  It initially looked like they'd taken a FT body and placed it on another chassis.  I queried Meng on shipping of their FT a few days ago, and mentioned many modelers were hoping they would introduce contemporary kits of other WW1 tanks.

The exhaust is here mounted inclined or bent?

It looks like it might be a little bit of each.

Checking images of Renault NCs - the exhaust normally seems to be parallel to the top run of the track. Perhaps this was a local modification to reduce the amount of

exhaust gas being sucked into the engine compartment.

Regards,

Charlie
