Pathe Gets Its Act Together.

As the centenary approaches, British Pathe have kindly brought all their Great War clips under one roof and listed them by category.

Index is here. Tanks section (not especially revealing, but worth a look) is here.

A bit of a find is this clip showing, amongst other things, Belgians in late 1914/early 1915 "Yser" uniform.

I thought this was just funny - http://www.britishpathe.com/video/german-tank

The description

"Shots of German monster tank with camouflage paint driving over rough ground; knocking down bushes and small trees. Side view tank driving over gap in ground. Tank knocks down tree. Tank passes near camera. Tank turns around 360 degrees in mud. (During all this a man runs by - looks like French officer. This would suggest that the tank was captured by the French Army who are now trying it out to see what it can do)."

Great summary - except the tank is a Schneider CA1 (sigh).

Regards,

Charlie

I like how they are selling short low-res clips for personal use only for 30GBP.
