Thanks.

That's interesting. I remember reading somewhere that 5 Renaults could be produced for price of 1 Schneider. Is it a myth, then?

Any idea how much the gun and machineguns for Saint Charmond would cost?

Bonjour,

"I remember reading somewhere that 5 Renaults could be produced for price of 1 Schneider."

It's like for Wikipédia, all you read is not truth . . . . . especially without good historical reference !

Gun and machine gun for all Saint Chamond's tanks were given by the Army and coming from military stores.

The real price of these tanks were, of course, really more expensive . . . . , for exactly the same job than Schneider's tanks . . . . .

Bonne soirée - Michel

I've checked for that claim and it turned out that it's from Stephen Zaloga's book about French WWI tanks. I misremembered it it - it was field 5 Renaults for every 1 Schneider without price mentioned.

Saint Chamond's gun had much greater range than Schneider's, though.

According to the Chars Francais site one FCM 2C costed 2,000,000 Frcs in 1920 O_O .
