Is this the same A233 that Lt. C. H. Sewell won his posthumous VC coming to the rescue of its crew?

Schneiders detraining.

Both photos from the Armour Journal on Facebook.

Q: Is this the same A233 that Lt. C. H. Sewell won his posthumous VC coming to the rescue of its crew?
A: Yes. There was only ever one A233. The number is unique to the tank.

I've had some correspondence that suggests that I may need to clarify that A233 was not Sewell's tank. A233 was the tank whose crew he attempted to help. Hope that's clear now, if it wasn't before.

Bonjour,

This photo : Spa 127 R4627 from Edmond Famechon is under copyright from Ecpa-D (Fort d'Ivry).

It was not a detraining from these Schneider M2.

The Groupe AS 11 was leaving, on train, Conty (South from Amiens) on June 5 th, 1918 and unloaded in Betz (South-East from Crépy-en-Valois) on June 6 th, 1918.

In foreground, the Schneider M2 (n° 61102) was the first tank from 3° Battery and Lt Guizien was its commander and pilot.

11 photos (n° Spa 127R4619 to Spa 127R4629) were done on this train by Edmond Famechon, and a film from this event was also done.

Bonne journée - Michel
