Hello, Everyone! My name is Pierantonio and I write from Italy.

I've been lurking for a while and now decided to join this lovely forum.

I am a modeller and interested in armored warfare history and the webmaster of the site www.ferreamole.it devoted to moder Italian Army tanks.

My first WWI tank was the venerable Airfix MkI (I built at least five or six of them, the first when I was 14 which means 34 years ago) and also an Ehmar MkIV

During thes years I collected as many as I found books on WWI tank and most of all those about British tank.

I am so happy of new WWI tank models now on the market and I can't wait the new Tamiya and Takom MKIVs.

Welcome to the forum Pierantonio. It's good to see people from so many countries joining.

Thank you for posting photos of your work. The tank looks very good, would love to see more but was only able to find modern stuff on your website. Maybe you can show us some more WW1 material here at some time. Regards, Pat

I live in San Donà di Piave a town near Venice on the river Piave.

River Piave was one of the major battle steg on Italian front during the Great War and my town was destroied at 90% by heavy shelling both from Austrian and Italian gun.

Here a picture of the main church in november 1917 taken by an Austrian Army photographer.

And the same street today. The church was rebuilt in a completely different style in the 20s.

San Donà was also the home tawn of Count Giannino Ancillotto an Italian flyer who had Medaglia d'Oro al Valor Militare (Gold Medal to Military Value, the same of British Victoria Cross or the American Congress Medal of Honour) when he destroied an Austrian Draken balloon leterally passig trought it with his airplain causing the balloon explosion. He survived the action with heavy demage to the airplane.

For this action Gabriele D'Annunzio, one of the most famous Italian poet in the last century, call him "il volator dall'ala incombusta" (the never burning wing flyer)
