Mk V + roof

I was wondering if anyone knows what the structure on top of this Mk V male is. Is it possibly a wireless aerial? The picture is a screenshot from a Discovery channel DVD "Extreme Machines: Tanks".

Interesting...the frame appears to be resting on top of the tank, but is not clearly attached to the roof. It vaguely resembles a segment of the odd turtleback frame seen on the Mk.IV in the attachment (apologies for the image quality).

Intriguing...

I would say it is either a support for camo nets, or the remains of a anti-hand grenade roof. Either I guess.

To me, it looks most like the section above the sponson in your attachment. Unfortunately, it's a very small clip; the whole part with this Mk V only lasts a few seconds.

One possibility is definitely a radio aerial. Mk Is with huge mast aerials were used at Ypres and 1st Cambriai but although quite successful the aerial was too cumbersome so something better was needed and other forms were experimented with. Some radio equiped Mk V*s were used by the Americans in action (at Brancourt for example) and some Mk VIs  and Vs were fitted experimentally with different kinds of aerial (as was at least one American Renault FT 17 that sprouted what looked like a 1950s style TV aerial) but what was adopted or if used in action I don't know.
