I'm new to the WWI scene, and admittedly I won't be using this set of figures for a WWI scene per se... but has anyone any experience with the ICM figure set "British Infantry (1917-1918)"? Opinions?
In case anyone's wondering where I'll be using these figures... I'm planning a small dio about the Rand Revolt of 1922 in South Africa. SA used the British WWI uniform right up until about 1939...
The quality is not very high. The ICM set "German Stormtroopers" is much better. The riflemen poses are odd. The gas masks and their bags are missing. My opinion? If 0 is "the worst" and 10 is "the best", it deserves 6 or 6.5, not more than this.
Regards

Why donīt you try to use the Model Cellar set "British Infantry - Somme"? I think they are better than ICM set. And you can use the Japanese Armor King figures too, but I donīt know if they are in stock.
Regards and welcome to the WWI world!

Hello and Welcome to Landships. I personally have never heard of the Rand Revolt, so I looked it up. Quite interesting. I found this site, I am not sure if it is one sided, and if it tells the complete story, but I found it interesting.
My question for you, is there any military photos of this advent???
I would be very interested in seeing them if there is.
As far as the ICM figures go, I agree, they are not as good as the Germans, and you have to add a lot of extra detail. You can use Scale Link, but they are pricey and stiff at times.
I personally like Japanese Armor King Figures; they are easy to scratch build around.
Also the old multi-pose figures from the 70s by Arifix are great to use as conversions.
All the Best

In the scene I'm hoping to recreate the riflemen will be devoid of all equipment except webbing... so I guess I'm lucky in a way that it's not all there I'll probably also change the helmets for pith helmets...
Tim:
To be perfectly honest with you I get the feeling this is one of those times that is easily forgotten in South Africa. If it weren't for someone at my local IPMS club mentioning that the Whippet was used then, I wouldn't know about the conflict either... there is a dirth of information on the web about it, and apart for the odd Communist manifesto there doesn't appear to be much in the way of writing about this time either...
Speaking of the Whippet... I will be including the Emhar 1/35 Whippet (with the Airwaves PE set) in the dio...
Here is a few photo's I have found on the Rand Revolt of 1922, One is the South African Whippet on the streets of Johannesburg. And the other is a scene reminescent of WW1 trench warfare.(Or course early war )
