80 mm Mle 1877; issued to French cavalry. A heavier piece, the 90mm Mle 1977 was the Infantry field piece that replaced the earlier 95mm Lahitolle Mle1875. All these guns did see action early in WW1 as "fill-ins" until sufficient replacement numbers of the 75mm Mle 1897 were manufactured after the heavy losses of that piece in the early months of the war.
