I attach one of the photos included (Thameslink obviously used this as a model for the Bedford line) The web site has a lot of coloured photos, and colourised shots (some done v well and some v badly).
These photos are really impressing. They once again cast a light on the reality of the Great War.
But what I noticed, is , that most of the "Battle photos" of the "Rare German pictures" are those made at the training area of the German Army behind Sedan. The training was unter "real" fire.....
A Mark IV is shown in Berlin streets as a captured one (like that one in Russian/Dutch link dealing on mock-ups). These fotos are surely made during the German revolution in winter 1918/19. They are not on "parade" they are indeed threatening the "Red" Forces.
Others, esp. those of planes in the air seem to be faked.
But nonetheless, a really most impressing collection.

One Freicorp was equiped with a Beutepanzer and a Hedi during the 1918/19 struggles. The Hedi had to be handed over to the Allied Disarmament Commission but surprisingly the Beutpanzer was allowed to be retired to a museum in Berlin. It seems that it was brought out of retirement in April 1945 for one last crack ar the "Red Forces" only to be captured once again.
I´m not really shure about the fate of these Mk IV in Berlin during April/May 45.
I just have seen one photo of this tank, surrounded by Russian female soldiers, in a still existing Russian Museum im Berlin. I think it still stood on front of the Berlin Army Museum and was disarmed. It did make the impression, that it was not actually used against the Russian forces.
I've seen but don't have a shot of a tank claimed to have been taken from a museum and used in 1945. Don't know if its the same picture as I don't have access - wilol try and find again
Enclosed 4 tanks in Berlin. 1918/1919 Are any (or all) the same tank?
I added 4 files here and they have vanished. Moreover an entirely different file - nothing to do with me has been added!! Are there viruses or hackers about?
Robert, I have checked the forum, it seems to be operating ok, I also could not open the attachment, I am not sure why. Can you convert it to a jpeg? All the Best Tim R
