Blimey. I didn't think anyone had heard of  Millom. We had relatives there, and when I was a kid we used to go and visit them. In pre-motorway days it took all day - dawn till dusk - to get there from Manchester. We used to stop for lunch! I think you can do it in about 2 and a half hours now, but the place really is out on a limb. Fancy lugging a tank all that way.

Btw, some of my relatives worked in the offices at nearby Windscale nuclear power station, now called Sellafield. I remember their saying that they had been sent home because of a fire at the power station. Fifty years later the government revealed that the fire had been in the reactor and a meltdown had been narrowly averted.

Forgive this bit of nostalgia and self-indulgence.
