Villers-Bretonneux Museum Update. Mostly good news.

The museum reopened in April after a refurb. Very nicely done, a bit about Gallipoli, etc, but mostly about Aussie role in battle for V-B. There is now a glass case containing the model of Mephisto (about 2 feet long), explanatory information, and a new feature - a video of the two local gents who built it. They are shown taking it to bits, displaying the interior, and reassembling it before placing it in the new showcase. All a bit nerve-wracking, as they are, sadly, very elderly and trembly now, but they are clearly very proud. Photos to follow on return to Blighty.

The much less good news is that the diorama of British tanks is no longer on show. It's in storage. They don't know what to do with it. There is a lack of funding, and it's felt that it's "obsolete". I don't think many of us would agree with that, but that's what I was told. I hope they're not going to consult the IWM on how to modernise a diorama.
