Model T Car In Europe
Permalink

ICM has a 1/35 Ford Model T car kit, 1914 version.  I wondered in they were present in Europe-as non-military vehicles-in 1914 Europe, before the Great War broke out.  I remember seeing a very early Charlie Chaplin (prior to "The Tramp") movie where he i newspaperman witnessing an automibile accident.

My mother was born and grew up in Trafford Park. I was chrstened there, a hundred yards from the factory. As a kid, I knew people who had worked at "the Ford" and lived in the terraced houses that Ford built for the employees.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!  Small world it seems.

Wonder how many Model T's hit the public streets by 1914 and who owned them, since the article mentions many were produced by then.

My paternal grandfather worked as an engineer with the Ford company prior to WW1. Curiously, his choice of transport was a steam powered Stanley...

At present, in Britain "Tuckett Brothers" appear to be a major dealer in UK built and imported Model T Fords, and usually have an interesting selection of vehicles in various conditions.
