Help needed with WW1 PE Tracks
Permalink Closed

Hi guys!

I got this request from Milan Vins (Tracks & Troops), and as I am on the road right now, I hope that someone in this forum can help him. The idea of making Photo-Etched tracks for WW1 kits is simply too good to miss!

You can contact Milan - who is a great guy - at milan.vins@tracks-n-troops.com

...

"I'm close contact with OKB Grigorov company making etchings.

I can simply get etched replacement tracks for RPM Ft17s and also for Emhar Mk.IVs.

Only I would need are some good references on their tracks, mean dimensions of track link, detail photos etc."

Anyone out there that can help Milan?

Sounds interesting - I've emailed Milan detailed drawings of British track links (don't have anything on Renault, though).

HOLY Crap fellas!!

I must officially submit my fare for what we so affectionally call in America, the 'Short Bus'

Here, I have been rattling my own cerebral cage in trying to figure out a way to make British Mark track plates out of either plastic or resin in an efficient {meaning non-time consumptive} method and all the time I have completely forgotten the possibility of using photoetch or metal!!......sheesh!

Man.....I fell like I just experienced a profound Homer Simpson "Doh!!" moment....

One of the advantages of using either metal or photoetch is {obviously} it's built-in 'memory'...so, making track plates out of etch material would have to {IMHO} include a preformed jig of some kind....no?

Tread.
