Really nice work! I like the paint on this one looks extremely realistic and the weathering is done perfectly. Do you have any other pictures to post? Also, do you have any information of the models used and what paint and weathering you used?

This is the Holt 75 Artillery Tractor with BL 8-inch Howitzer Mk.VI from Roden in 1/35th scale. It was painted with Ammo Moss Green and Vallejo Bronze Green as te ase colours. The weathering was done with Ammo Light and Afrka Korps Wash, oil paints and dry pigments.

Sorry about the different sized images. I don’t use imgur enough to be proficient. The Roden tractor parts require a lot of flash removal and removing mold lines. The roof has a large sink area that I filled in with Mr Surfacer 500 and sanded to match the corrugations. The springs on the chassis are too high and through off the tracks. I removed about 1/4 of their height and cut the rear axel to the drive sprocket and pulled it down a few millimeters to get the top track more horizontal with the bottom track. The 8” howitzer is a over simplified model and it makes the tractor look like a Tamiya kit. For a model designed in 2019 both are disappointing but look good after paint and weathering.

One more comment. The steel tires in the Roden kit are made from rubber and the treads both go in the same direction which is wrong. Paul at Model Cellar made a nice resin replacement set that’s easy to apply. Here’s a link to his catalog for these parts.

 I’ve added the paint and weathering information in the above post.  Oil stains were done with oil paints and turpentin.

Your Holt/Howitzer build looks GREAT =).

Thanks for the 'shout out' for our Howitzer wheel tread detail parts and the link to our catalog.

However, everyone please note:  The picture in our catalog is that of the 'initial release'.  After we released the treads in April, it was quickly brought to my attention that they were not correct for WWI.  That is because I used the images of the museum piece in front of the Finnish War museum which was a post war variant with rubber pads fitted after WWI.  You can read the detailed discussion here:

We have since revised the treads to the correct pattern (four rivets across a raised steel cleat, PLUS an opposing pattern) as seen on Charlie's build above.  They are now available, but I do not have updated box art yet.  It will take me a while longer to build another kit with the revised treads, paint and weather it, and photograph it, and then update the website.  But you can order them by using the existing website as is.  Just include a message that you want the revised/updated WWI pattern as seen on Charlie's howitzer above.  ...and of course, if you want to build an accurate, detailed version of the Howitzer on display in front of the Finnish War museum, I can always send the originals =)).
