When reading Military transport of WW1 by Ellis and Bishop i noticed the Boulant Mobile Surgery built on a Schneider PB2 omnibus chassis. Although these vehicles were expensive to produce several were fabricated during the war for the French military. I wish to scratch built one of these in 1/76 scale. I have a vector drawing of the Schneider PB2 but with no scale. I have searched the internet but cannot find any dimensions.

Does anyone have the wheelbase measurement?

Has anyone else noticed "new and improved" seems to mean it doesn't work as well as it used to?

Bit slow to actually get modelling on this but here is the progress so far. The scale is 1/76 and the main body is constructed from plastic sheet which received a coat of primer before fabrication. This evening I have been making the operating theatre kit (operating table, stool, equipment trolley, lamp and sink). Next it will be the windows and roof and then putting it all together.

The sratchbuilt model of the Boulant Mobile Surgery unit is now completed, at least as far as I need it. It is for a WW1 French Artillery narrow gauge light railway layout and will be one of the vignettes.

 

A couple of photo's during construction and some of the vignette approximately as it will appear on the layout. The Ford model T ambulance is an RMP kit and the figures are supplied by WD models, two of which have been modified. The figures represent the stretcher bearers and casualty, the male hospital nurse, a Doctor-Major, a female nurse and a regimental Chaplain almoner. Baldwin of this forum recommended the 'French Army 1918' by Andre Jouineau as a reference to the unforms worn by the various sections of the French army, which has been invaluable during this build as the photos of the soldiers during this period seem to be a right mix.

I posted to show the completed model but, as has happened before, my post has been flagged up as potential spam. Going off my previous experience this means that it will never be on the board but reading through the forum lots of spam will be.

I regret to say that I am giving up on this forum.
