Here you are, huhncc.

These are the pics from Mollo & Turner's book Army Uniforms of World War 1.

Copyright is probably OK, they seem to be colourised WWI photos anyway. If anyone complains I'll withdraw them.

There are about 7 pages of text. If you want me to transcribe them you'll have to give me a couple of days, but here's some info to be going on with.

Belgian troops had the Chauchat and also the "portable" Hotchkiss (as used in British Tanks). Can't find a reference to the Lewis. Khaki uniforms supplied by Britain from early 1915, including cap. Adrian helmet issued from late 1915, painted khaki with lion-mask on front.

It seems that the Belgian Armoured Car Division was sent to Russia in December 1915, fought all over Russia and in March 1918 was in China. Not sure how that happened . . .

The Division returned to Belgium and was disbanded on July 15th, 1918.

More if you want it.

You're welcome. If you're thinking of modelling some out of existing poly figures there's plenty of scope - Napoleonic French grenadiers & Young Guard, French Mounted Guard Chasseurs,  Prussian Landwehr, shakos from British Rifles, French Foreign Legion, early WW1 French, and a few ACW candidates. Opportunity for a real pick'n'mix.

JH,

I wargame in 15mm so I plan on doing a 1914 and a 1918 Belgian army. Should be great fun with dog carts and one of the only A/Cs in 1914!
