Recent thread on the Weald Foundation raised the question of the identity of the WW1 trailer they have.
It seems they have a Weitz trailer - they say so in the advertising for the 2023 open day.
There were also trailers built by La Buire which look rather similar.
I've seen references to Delauny-Belleville and Troy trailers used in the role of carrying Renault FT but don't know what they looked like.
I think I can tell the difference between Weitz and La Buire trailers - the front wheels on the La Buire are of a smaller
diameter than the rear where as the wheels on the Weitz are all the same size.
In the attached images- the first seems to be a La Buire - the front wheels are being towed behind the trailer. the second may be a Weitz -
the wheels seem to be of uniform size.
Anyone know about these?
Charlie
Hypotheses make such an unpleasant "squelch" sound when they fail ...
I found on the 14-18 forum a loading diagram for the Schneider CA1 and a La Buire trailer.
The radii of the wheels are noted - 250(mm), front and rear the same diameter
But there may be a way to scrape my original idea off the floor - the diagram notes the La Buire as a "C2"
and the rated load as 9965kg whereas François Vauvillier in his GBM article on the Knox says the la Buire had a
rated load of 8000kgs. Perhaps there were two versions of the La Buire?

Bonjour Charlie,
On the diagram from La Buire C2, it's not 250 mm but 950 mm (for front and rear wheel).
On the photo with Schneider CD, at rear, the front wheel is probably from 720 mm
For the photo with Schneider M2 n° 61180, this La Buire is, perhaps, a model C2
Bonne fin de journée - Michel
