There's not much information about this photo. It was taken in Novorossiysk likely after the White Army's evacuation in March 1920.
There's a theory that the tank's name is «Chum Deal». This is indirectly hinted at by the unusual Russian inscription. The Russians (apparently with no knowledge of English) simply picked a name that sounded similar to «Chum Deal». The result was: «В чём дело?» [V chom delo] or in English: «What's the matter?».
Perhaps someone has more information. I'd appreciate any additions.
The name is a mystery and there are no known names that are even remotely close.
I have 3 candidates for the tank, all identified as being with the Reds' Southern Front 8th Tank Detachment in Ekaterinodar - today's Krasnodar. Novorossiysk is in Krasnodar Krai or Oblast. They are 9113 Nettoyeur, 9152 and 9302. The last 2 don't seem to have recorded names.
However, 8th don't seem to have had any identified Whippets: although there are 7 Whippets without a unit attribution. Red 1st and 3rd Tank Dets are known to have had both Whippets and Mk Vs.
Oh, do you have photos of these tanks? How did you determine that these tanks matched to Chum Deal in terms of weapon placement? It could have been either female or right composite.
No, they are just plucked from the Landships list as tanks that seemed to have possibly been in that area. You can't tell whether "Chum Deal" is a Female or a Composite from that photo.
