Mk I tail

Kaiser, like I said once before, it's a bugger doing the tail!

However, I found the attached images very useful - the overall size of the Airfix part is good, you just need to hack a lot off (or scratchbuild a new one). The images are a mix of models (including our host Peter Kempf's!) that seem more or less accurate, a good photo from Landships of a real tail, and other stuff (including a diagram showing how the cables and pulleys operate). The hydraulic lines to the steering tail ram are no longer present on the Bovington tank, but can be seen in the attached detail from a plan view. The hole where they emerged through the rear hull plate can be seen just below the door.

The tiller bar seems to be sandwiched between two box beams on the underside of the tail, just aft of the pulleys - no doubt to support and protect this rather fragile structure.
