Enclosed a photo of a Renault wireless tank in trouble and in German hands. But in which war? I know plenty of FT17s and 18s fell into German hands in 1940 but I didn't think that the French would still be using the Renault T as late as that. The Greek cross on the tank (rather than the Cross Pate) would suggest WW2 but the Greek Cross was adopted in flying units in 1918 so WW1 is not impossible. Any ideas?
I've seen another photo of a captured/knocked out Renault TSF, and it was taken in 1940. The picture was posted on missinglynx in the axis forum like...a year ago, or something. Some german grafitti on the "turret" said "Baby trolley of the grand army".
Maybe if you ask for some more info on missinglynx it can enlighten you.
It is obvious that this vehicle had a crew of idiots – it must be a third rank unit of ww2.
I am not certain that the cross is German. The way it is painted looks to me as something from the eastern front- a police unit, contra partisan unit… All sorts of stuff - but not the regular German unit.
Legion? Shuma? RONA?
It looks very, very Russian to me.(Death heads and the inscription on the side – Russian fashion)
