We tend to concentrate on tanks at the front but I've been looking at photos of tanks under construction. I enclose a selection of photos of tank factories (you may have seen one or two before but its useful, I think, to put them together. Mainly British but also French and German (and one US post war). Missing are Renaults, Schnieders, MK Is (and any LK models!). I've included Central Workshops as they did do tank modification if not actual construction. The photo file names are basically self explanitory so all I need to add is that the Whippets are being built at Fosters Wellington foundry.
The "fosters MKIV or III.jpeg" is a shot of Mk IV's. The rivets at the top of the cab are in an even row and the rivets above the vision slits are a lot smaller or flush.
The "fosters MKIV or III.jpeg" is a shot of Mk IV's.
As I'd said in the errata at the end of my posting! Fosters didn't make any Mk IIIs as I said
The "metro Mk V.JPG" is actually a Mk V*.
Well spotted
Actually, your errata must have gone astray in cyberspace. I've had this sort of thing happen on this forum before. You write your post up, attach images, and then edit the post before posting. It seems to drop whatever you edit after attaching images.

The 1930s source from which the picture comes identifies Daimler as the producer, later web pages identify variously Riebe-Kugellager and Riebe and Wegmann. Do you have an identifiable source that unambiguously defines the situation?
Vollmer was connected with Austro Daimler having done car design for them and may have helped steer orders in their direction. Is it possible that Daimler got the order but subcontracted it?
