The Foster's Plaques

You might remember a few months ago I posted an article about a plaque that had been sold at auction, one of several made at Foster's and presented to staff and suppliers to mark their contribution. In the auction programme there was only a small photo that didn't give any idea of the scale.


Well a friend in America sent me a dozen or so copies of the New York Times Midweek Supplement from the Great War period, and this was in one of them.


On the wall seems to be a copy of Haig's tribute to the Tanks' role, and the item on Tritton's desk must be one of the plaques. Or an early novelty telephone.

Stumbled across this auction site and subsequently on this plaque:

It appears to be an original, and the size (38" long, 13" high) ties in with the pic above. The one sold at auction a couple of years ago went for £600. This is on offer at £350.

He's also got one of the silver Tank models that was featured on TV a few months ago: https://www.specialistauctions.com/auctiondetails.php?id=1117962

The TV one was valued at £4,000. This is £500.

Where he's got these from I can't guess.
