I like Roden Kits very much. Since I build braille-scale, I hope of course on the Holt in scale 1:72.

Unfortunatly it's 1/72 not 1/35. As far as I know the only 1/35 8" howitzer Mk. VI is the resin model from Resicast.

http://www.resicast.com/products/kits/slideshow-113/index.html

They made also the WWI 6" Howitzer with limber

http://www.resicast.com/products/kits/slideshow-10/index.html

Nice kits but both of them really priced.

Thunder Model announced a plastic 7.2" howitzer but in the WWII version.

Hi there all

It would appear that Roden are planning to release a 1/35 scale BL 8in howitzer Mk.VI:

In addition, Thunder Models recently said on Facebook:
“Our upcoming release <1/35 British 7.2in howitzer> scheduled for late March roughly, it comes with a small bunch of accessories and ammo, later on we will also offer earlier WWI variant of this howitzer”, but apparently they’ve not yet decided whether to release it as a Mk.VI or VIII

Best regards

Mike

Nice. Bring on more like this. Foster-Daimler Artillery Tractor? Traction engines? A7V and Schneider load carriers. etc etc. I wonder if Resicast will cash in by releasing an upgrade set using parts of their kit? This kit by Roden is bound to pull the rug from under their sales.

Thunder have announced a Caterpillar Sixty but I believe that's several years post-war.

I believe the Russian army did use some Holt tractors and the Germans did capture and use a few. Not 100% sure.

The great war forum is where there is mention of 80 Holt tractors being used by the Russians and a picture of one captured by the Germans at Minsk.

From the Book " Diary of General Vladimir Mikihailovich Bezorazov Commander of the Russian Imperial guard 1914-1917":
26 Feb/11 mar 1915 "New tractor drawn 6 inch field guns of the Schneider type with a range of 12 versts have arrived." These are most likely 152mm Putilov M10 field guns. This site mentions them as being towed by Allis-Chalmers tractors.

The reference to the Allis-Chambers tractors comes from A B Shirokorad's "Encyclopedia of Russian Artillery" - it was one of those details

that popped out of the machine translation and I just had to put it in the article. The Russian Army used a lot of half-track Allis-Chambers

vehicles - I think they got them cheap because they were a commercial failure in the US.

Regards,

Charlie
