Kemna EM type traction engine
Permalink

Dear All,

On the moment we are restoring a German type steam traction engine. These engines of the EM type were built between 1914-18 by various companies to the original design of Mr Julius Kemna. The type EM stands for "Einheits Machine", so all builders made the same identical engine. Our "Kemna"was built by Haubolt in Chemnitz. You can see the progress of the restoration on www.stoomwerktuigen.nl
Does anyone have any information on these traction engines ?
Is it true that these engines where used for hauling big guns like "dicke berta" ?
Any information would be welcome !

Kind regards,

Jan van de Veen
