LK II by Cromwell
Permalink

Hello everyone,

A few days ago, I started to build the Cromwell LK II.
This is a nice kit in resin, well casted, however, there are some bubble in place of some rivet.
My references are the excellent Landship site and this site, link provided in the Landship site : http://medlem.spray.se/landsverk/mm_strv21.htm

Regarding this last site, I plan to represent one Sweden tank (namedStridsvagn m/21), this one :

Stridsvagn m/21
Anybody has some more pictures, information regarding the marking of the other faces ? On this site, there are no possibilities to contact the owner.
I plan to use the Humbrol dark grey 67 for the base colour, then white plus pastel at the end.

Next post, I will present the modification and the building process.

All the best

If you check on that swedish page, on a photo of that whitewashed Strv m/21, you will see a small marking to the front: it is a white or yellow rectangle with three stylized crowns. It is the nationality marking used in the Swedish army at this time - a bit similar one used on Swedish aircraft at the same time.

And you are in luck! Black Lion decals produce a sheet with markings for the Strv m/21. Check out there site! (See the News page.)

(Just sticking my head above the water: writing this in a Hotel Room in Berlin. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy... )

Hello,

Thank you for the information.
I already have the Black Lion decals, it is why I started the kit wink. I also saw this picture on the same page where I found the profile, and I am looking for other views to eventually place other decals, it looks like there was no marking on the side, but on the rear ? The Stridsvagn m/21 had often its number at the bottom of the rear door.

Next post for the actual status of the kit ....

Now, on the building process.
The kit is made of 4 parts, the body, the turret and the 2 tracks :

Assembled :
https://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/Nieuport/LK%20II/LK2_02.jpg

Some close views where you can see the handles done with 0.3mm steel wire. I also added several rivet made with little balls from a water filter :

https://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c29/Nieuport/LK%20II/LK2_04.jpg

And the turret :

I have a problem, on the internal face of the track assemblies, there are no details. Anybody has a suggestion to do them ? My idea is to make a jig smaller than the track assembly and scribe around to represent something similar of the "good" side.

Thank you in advance

Hello,

A little update. I sprayed a base coat on the LK.II :
Main body
Turret
and Tracks

After correcting some little problems, I will spray a coat of Humbrol 67 Matt tank grey.

All the best

Nice!
I've thought about doing a Swedish M/21 for years out of the Cromwell kit, but now that you've done it (and you've done a terrific job so far) I might not. :)

Hello,

Thank you for the comment !!!
Start to build this kit, it is very nice. The main point is to add some rivets.
There is a lot of other marking than the one I chose.

All the very best

Hello all,

Thank you for your comments.
I didn't worked a lot on my LK.II recently but there are a few improvements.
First, a wash of burnt umber and black :

Then a first try of white camouflage with brush --> disaster !!!

Then, using a masking product, the white is airbrushed :

The result is better

To be continued !!!

Looking good.
Since you've painted it in a grey base colour, I assume the winter-camo is going to be chipped?

I don't think so, it will be weathered.

Hello,

I progress very slowly. This is the actual status :
LK2_20.jpg

Now, the tracks to paint and then, the weathering.

All the best
