I'd like to model the MK A Whippet known as "Musical Box", of which there is an article on this site, however, I have no idea what markings it carried! Any help is appreciated.
In case there is no available info on "Musical Box", I'd like to model one with national bands over the engine compartment. But I don't know of any nicknames for such a Whippet!

I think this one would best be modelled in 1/35 scale. The "Musical Box" markings on the only photo I know of look to have been applied using chalk or very thin paint. There is a photo of "musical box" on the landships site. I have drawn a rough copy of what the markings on the bow plate looked like. Please do not take this as an authoritative drawing; it is only a rough guide.

So am I but the markings in 1/72 would be so small as to be virtually unreadable. A very rough eyeball estimate makes the "Musical" part of the name to be about 30 inches or 762 mm long. Divide that by 72 and it comes out to about 10.5 mm long. It would be visible but not really legible. The notes and the treble clef would be even smaller. I've attached the image of Musical Box. If you do have a go at it, I would be very interested in seeing it. Good Luck
Actually, you could order a better copy of that photo from the AWM. They have a copy available (photo number E02880), and I'm sure that Bovington or the IWM would have the same image on file.
