Hi Phil R extra tech are pretty good I have the etched fret for the roden gotha - very nice.. The problem though with the emhar fret may be that it doesnt address the main problem with the sponsons, for that you'd have to get the matador correction set, together its likely to be an expensive MkIV more so if you also get their track set, facine, unditching beam etc!.. personally I'd like to see an etched track....

cheers

it would be quite an amusing distraction to see just how expensive one could make a mk4 model cost! maybe we should have a competition?!

i think if you added the matador mk4 extras - unditching beam & a chain i think, and some flimsies from milicast, it'd probably cost as much as an original 'real' tank!!

i also notice, on the tracks and troops site that you can get ready made track units for RPMs FT17s.

http://tracks-n-troops.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=4597

add on the PART etched fret stuff and you get another costly model.

I dream of the day when any manufacturer brings out a range of 1/72 WW1 tanks in styrene that are reasonably accurate. Surely the WW2 market is catered for well enough that some plastic can be spared for WW1?
At least Emhar have given us some WW1 tanks, even if not spot on.

i agree, mark, and i wasn't complaining about emhar.

i think it would be good though, if, say, Airfix, relaunched their mk1 with optional female sponsons, mk1 or mk2 roofplate and hatch, and grousers for the track.

or if emhar combined their mk4 female and male, added an unditching beam and grousers etc

maybe Roden will make their Rolls Royce with a choice of turrets, stowage and maybe some crew figures

Hi again, I checked the matador site for current prices and the replacement sponsons are not so badly priced at 4.50PS, but of course if you buy all the other resin addon bits this will set you back 23PS. Hmmm......seems like you could buy 1.5 schnieders from retrokit.... and I think I know where my money will be going just as soon as I can figure out how to use their online shop.....on the whole Im fairly satisfied with the emhar kits I bought 6 of them, maybe one will get the full treatment but at the rate that I build kits there may well be a better replacement out by then......maybe mail hornby/airfix and put in a suggestion re the MK1 tank, seems like a good idea to me while your at it get them to do new set of tracks......maybe if we all did it thay would take note...

Cheers

Hello,

I just got the PE set, it looks very interesting.
It allow the replacement of the rear doors of the sponsons, the drivers vision slot (not sure of the words), the rails on the roof, the box at the rear of the roof and various other parts.
I think it could help to improve the Emhar kit.
I cannot check the ability of these parts to fit on the kit because Track & Troops did not have the kit yet.

I will let you know when I will receive it.

I also received some other stuff including Zaamurets 1917 and Skoda 10cm M14 feldhaubitze.

All the best
