Missing images

If those are hotlinked images (e.g. directly linked to images on other sites such as personal photo-file accounts, other websites, etc.), it's usually because either the originating site has become defunct, or the image has been removed, e.g. someone has deleted it from a photo-file account to make room for something else.

That's why it's best, from an archival point of view, to use the image uploading facility, so that this site directly hosts the image.

That's the odd thing - I did upload these images using the image uploading facility. I can't say, without checking the HTML, whether others have done the same but I would expect so in most cases.

Curiouser and curiouser - I did a quick HTML check on this thread and the only photos missing are the ones that were uploaded into the image loading facility. The others show just fine.

I suppose only someone with Administrator rights who can delve into the guts of the forum would be able to diagnose the problem...

Hi Thats annoying everything was there last evening..although I did have problems getting my post to stick, mine was the last image posted by upload on that thread.....might there be a connection...I hate to say this but I just checked a few threads going back to may and�I suspect the entire forum archive is effected....All uploaded images appear to be missing!.... weirdface

I fear you may be right! I've just checked the last thread where I remember uploading photos, the Hetherington Big Wheel, and the image I uploaded is now the Dreaded Red X!

How annoying! I've just checked the Britannia thread under Tanks and images from 27.3.07 are there but the next post from 27.4.07 has red X's. I use the uploading facility for all the images I post and I know that a few days ago they were definitley there.

Hope you guys can sort this out!

Hi I have been looking at some of the older posts in the archive (and some very interesting stuff there is there to) and can confirm that uploaded images are mostly missing and consist of the dreaded redX....
