This is a good site for contemporary reports on the War. Search the site for interesting results: http://query.nytimes.com

During the War the NYT published a supplement on the War every week. I've got a dozen or so copies. A lot of seldom-seen pics. While the US was still neutral, American reporters had access to a lot of places the Allied press couldn't get to.

How disarmingly candid to write a newspaper story about how one of your agents has successfully pinched some top secret plans from a friendly nation and that you're proposing to counterfeit the weapon. Bizarre. Is it the 75 they're talking about?

This site is fantastic for stuff on the Russians in Persia and Mesopotamia, with which, you might have noticed, I've become rather fascinated. Very precise reports from both sides. Most helpful.

The NYT also published a story about Kitchener and the origins of the Tank, which I'm going to put on a new thread.

Hi James, nothing much has changed the papers seem to know everybodys secrets.....I do believe the artical is refering to the french 75's as well as the now (1900) obsolete Krupp C96 and its subsequent upgrade to FK96 standard, also the russian putilov 76 M02... I have no idea what the conversion rate is so cant comment on the costs.....although this seems for the russians at least to be rather high (50,000$ for a six? gun battery).......

Cheers
