Austin armoured cars in British service
Permalink

I've found a few photos about the web of the 1918 version of the Austin armoured cars in service with the British Army on the western front. Does anyone have much information about their useage on the western front, numbers, camouflage etc, and if there's any models of the 1918 version around?

Cheers, Rob

the australian war memorial has a few good photos of the cars in british service. they show how serial numbers were painted on and where, the white red white stripes position and size, and one shows that the top half of the car was painted blue and the bottom half olive.

'tanks and trenches' edited by david fletcher has been mentioned in other threads about the austin, and recounts some of the 17th batt.'s exploits (a tank battalion that was forced out of its tanks and into austins, but did get the honour of being the first to enter berlin).

reviresco make a 1918 austin. i have it. it needs some work!
