Emhar stock running out?

Hi guys!

Newbie from Finland here.
Been modeling for some 25 years now...finally moving to make some armor.

I have always been fascinated by the early designs and decided this is the subject I'll be concentrating on.
Also, considering that most of the stuff I usually build is 1/35, 1/20 or 28mm I think buliding in 1/72 and 1/76 scales would be pretty cool.

Now, I was thinking of starting with some Emhar kits.
What's the story here??? OOP? confused
I managed to order two Whippets, but that's pretty much it.
1/35 kits seem to be more frequently available.
How about that Airfix kit? Still being made or OOP?
I noticed that there are some nice conversion kits available for this particular model.

Oh...this seems like a fantastic forum.
Thanks for having me here.

Cheers,
Mikko

Hi Mikko, you may be able to order some from here...

http://www.dragons-net.de/

all the regular dealers I use seem to be sold out of Rhomboids and A7V's it does seem however that new stock may be on its way.....

The only way to get the Airfix Kit is to look for it on ebay.....

Cheers

I can't find it now, but I'm sure I heard Emhar were going out of business. And there does seem to be a lack of Emhar stock in the online sellers. But I stress, I can't remember where I heard that.

Airfix are said to be re-releasing their Great War range. That might include their 'mark 1' tank. It might include their Rolls Royce, B type Bus and Fire Engine. Monkeys might fly out from my behind. ebay is the only source at the moment.

Thanks for that german link.
Mail has been sent.

Found one Airfix kit from US but shipping cost killed this idea...

Tomorrow I shall raid all hobby stores in Helsinki.
I just might get lucky as there are always those dusty piles of boxes in the corners.

Do you guys see that I could build all MK's(I, II,II and IV) with Emhar kits?
I mean...I'm pretty good at scratching stuff. Was thinking of making these models as "therapy"...so scratching one immediately is not in the cards.
I noticed that almost all Matador conversion kits are for Airfix.
Can these be used for Emhar kits if some modification is done?

Sorry about all these questions. I have tons as I'm new to modeling anything that has ever existed in real world.

Many thanks lads,
Mikko

I think it would be possible to build all versions from MkI-V using the emhar MkIV kit as a basis, but would probarbly require fairly major work for some versions in any case if you want the models to be 1/72 scale you would have no other option as its currently the only kit of this type of tank on the market in small scale....sad but true.....if emhar are closing shop it would be a blow to WW1 modellers....I think the matador components are suitable for the emhar kit......ask them.

Matador also seem to have the emhar kits in stock.

did airfix ever produce a Roller or is that wishfull thinking.......

Cheers

OK. Thanks for that.
Will ask them...fax is a bit of a hassle, but seems to be the only way to reach them...cry

As said, I'm good friends with Mr. styrene sheet. I'm sure I can have this done if I have enough reference.

Will leave Airfix kits for now.

Many thanks again.
Mikko

pretty sure i've seen a 1/32 roller by airfix on ebay. may be confused. or wrong. but pretty sure. (was a civilian model, not an armoured car)

some of the matador stuff, such as the tracks and the sponsons, fits both kits. dont know if all of it will.

but if you're good enough with mr styrene sheet, should be no problems!

1. I haven't heard anything about EMHAR going out of business (they were represented at the recent Hobby Fair in Nuremberg).

2. But I have noticed that they sort of re-stock erratically. Once in a while one type of kit is unavailable, then another. But that's just my impression...

3. I always try and refill my own stock with a LOT of kits, as plastic kits, especially when not talking about Me-109's and Tiger tanks, tend to be fresh produce: here today, but not necessarily here tomorrow. BUT due to the high costs of making the moulds they tend to re-appear. (I have seven Airfix Mk I's in my stash.)

4. Have you tried Ebay? EVERYTHING can be found there!

5. Shop around. I'm sure that you can find both the Airfix Mk I and the EMHAR WW1 kits somewhere!
