Mk V signaling system
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone
Having now made my Cromwell Models Mk V* s. The model comes with the signaling post which sits on the top of the tank. Does anyone know how these were used? Obviously the batons can be raised and lowered but was it for some type of semaphore? I can remember seeing the same thing on the Bovington Mk V but that was years ago before I became interested in the period so any information would be gratefully received.

Yes it was a semaphore using from inside the tank. Wire was inside the mast itself.
The Bovington Tank museeum sells very good technical drawings showing the full system.

The arms where white with the round ends outlined in black.  Reverse side was the same brown as the tank.

Need just to check, but this comes, I think, from the info in the Bovvington plan pack.   The QWar Diaries may have a set of codes for signals...
