Now this raises an interesting matter. Pierre says he's still looking for pics of the FT17 in the Somme Museum at Amiens.
A few years ago, armed with Preserved Tanks in France by Trevor Larkum, I went looking for it. According to Mr. L "This FT17 is displayed with other First World War vehicles in the Somme Museum at Amiens". There is no accompanying picture.
Went into the tourist office in Amiens to ask for directions. They'd never heard of it. The very helpful lady even telephoned a local historian to see if he could help. He'd never heard of it. Did I mean Peronne? No, we'd just come from there. Albert? No, we were there yesterday.
The impression I formed was that the Museum is a figment of Mr. L's imagination. Has anyone had a confirmed sighting?

Maybe he meant 'memorial' instead of 'museum'. And over the years, the memorial has moved/gone, like all the ones that disappeared in the UK.
Lot of tanks disappear! For example, in a photograph I spotted a 6-tonner at Camp Toccoa that was not on Pierre's list. It actually turns out that there used to be two 6-tonners at Camp Toccoa, and they have both disappeared!
The two FT tanks found in Afghanistan (five years ago?) have disappeared.
And does Saumur have two, or three, FT tanks? I think they have two with weapons, and one Radio/Signal (TSF) version.
And then there is Gwyn's Whippet in Kharkov or Moscow.
And the buried tank in some park in England
And where are Mulder and Scully when you really need them! (actually, they're making a comeback, so that's not such a good joke!)

X-Files making a comeback? Brilliant. Not that I'm a geek or anything. I'm not interested in Star Trek, I must point out. It's just that I'll never forget the time Scully had herself tattooed.

The Afghan FTs went to the Patton Armour Museum. I have photos of them there in my flickr pages. But there has been no news about them since. I have asked for an update, but the response was not informative. I had visions of them being crated up and stored in a large warehouse somewhere (with The Ark of the Covenant and The Stargate etc)!
(I think I am a geek)
I have been tempted to write to Baldric on Time Team to see if he can find the tank in the park. Because what 'that bloke' (not Baldric) says is tantalising.
x-files come back amounts to a new film coming out soon. With Scully!

I was just at Knox in August '07 doing research, and saw one of the FT-18s being restored, courtesy of the museum staff. I believe the "surviving" list has been updated to show the status of them, has it not?
