at the base of the page is shown a full picture of the album from which the Austrian prisoners pix was extracted. It is in black and white / sepia. So the beautifull color pix atop has been colorized. There is even a credit to the colorization (digital rendering by)

Most interesting The BBC quite recently showed movie films taken in Britain in the 1920s using much the same process
