World War I Real-Time Strategy Computer Games
Permalink

Hi everyone, I've come across two World War I real-time strategy computer games as of late.

One is "The Entente: Battlefields World War I", also known as "WWI: The Great War", and was developed by Lesta Studio, a Russian company.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Entente:_Battlefields_World_War_I  Apparently the game website itself has recently been taken down, though.  Other than that, I don't know a great deal about this one.

The other one is "World War I", developed by another Russian company, Dark Fox.  It's built on the same engine that the game "Blitzkrieg" was, if that gives anyone an idea of what it should be like.  The official site is at http://games.1c.ru/wwi/, and the publisher's site on it is at http://www.1cpublishing.eu/game/world-war-i/overview.

Has anyone played these before?  I currently have a disc image of "The Entente" but haven't been able to get it to work, and I haven't bought "World War I".  Anyway, happy trails to everyone.

I've tried the Dark Fox one. When you like to start the siege of Liège in 1914 with A7Vs and LKII, while the French have Renaults and Schneiders (there are no Belgians), this is your game.
Equally, you're 8th Army in the east while face a Russian force equipped with Wezdekods and Austin ACs, while your field cannons will have no better range than a normal rifleman.

I've tried "Entente" and had to patch it to make it work - try that! - but after that found it OK (resembles most real-time strategy games "Command and Conquer"-style) but vey tough. I don't think I have ever won a single time, and then I simply gave up
