State Library of New South Wales on flickr

As the title says, the State Library of New South Wales has some photos posted on flickr.

I was interested in all of them, but particulary drawn to this one:

Can anyone identify the truck; the wheel looks like the wheel of a Peerless to me?

Thornycroft J Type you mean. Interesting to see that the headlamps have been reversed. Probably to protect the glass from flying debris.

Schoolboy error. This bloke seems to know all about the Thornycroft:

BTW, I suspect these are Australians. The fact that it's in the NSW Library and is the sort of graphic photograph the War Office weren't keen on suggests it was the work of the Australian official photographers. A very bleak image.
