A7V Replica running
Permalink

My first post on this forum...confuse

I went to the Tankfest at the Bovington Tank Museum on Sunday. A good day out. Much focus on the running Tiger I of course but great interest in the first outing of the A7V replica built at British Military Vehicles. Despite being a plywood and resin construction over a steel frame it certainly looks the part from outside. I understand that there has been no attempt to recreate the original on the inside (unlike the replica in Germany if I am right). The vehicle recreated is 'Schnuck' which, if I heard  the commentary correctly, is the one that was a Bovington in the interwar years before being scraped in WW2 (seems logical).

When it was running it certainly looked 'right', especially with a squad of 'stormtroopers' following behind it but there was also a real sense of the limitations of the design. I took some pictures of course and a couple are attached. I also took a video clip of it in motion as well but I'm not sure how well that would work as an attachment

Ooops. I have now realised that in a mad moment I have posted the above on the General forum rather than the German tanks one. There's a lot more discussion on the topic there

Hello Alan
I was very interested in your post as I am trying to build a 1/56 scale model of an A7V
Do you think that the replica will still be at Bovvy?
It isnt displayed in the actual museum.
I have a set of plans that I got from the museum .but they are not very detailed and I am begining to wonder just how accurate the measurements are

my personal email is
barrycarter70@hotmail.com

I am primarily interested from a wargaming standpoint ,so if that also interests you please contact me

regards
Barry
