Bonjour,

Always in French Military archives from SHD vincennes (box 16 N 2130), some informations about Nixe II recovered by Major Davis on July, 25 1919 and loaded on train in Reims station.

Perhaps, in the United states, some photos of this even in an old attic . .

Evidently, this type of souvenir hunting wasn't unheard of. We have a British artillery piece on our town square that was brought back by a soldier as a souvenier. It would seem as if anything left on a battlefield was fair game for the taking, if one could afford to send it home.

Am I reading correctly that Nixe II was unquestionably scrapped in 1942, or that it was in private hands up to that time (Not the A7V at Aberdeen that bit the dust?)?

Bonjour,

I am not specialist on A7V . Only see in "German Panzers 1914-1918" - Osprey - by Steven Zaloga.

Major's name was, probably "Davies" and not Davis. He was member of the Army American Service and, perhaps, working in Varennes (or Bourg) for the Tank Corps.
