I want to scratchbuild a model of the German K-Wagen, and I have found this site to be most helpful. The only thing holding me back is that I can't find the crew entrance hatch(es.) They do not seem to be on the sponsons, as with the British tanks, or on the hull. I can only see one hatch on top for the drivers, but I cannot imagine the entire crew "mounting up" through this single hatch, especially given the size of this tank. Any help that you are able to give me is greatly appreciated.
Odd that this one has appeared but on page 37 of "Sturmpanzerwagen A7V Von Urpanzerzum Leopard 2" is a small general arrangement drawing of the K-Wagen which shows a large hatch in the floor of both sponsons. It is roughly situated between the hindmost 77 gun and the machinegun port forward of that, ie between the two 77 guns. It would drop down, hinged along one edge and the crew would climb up into the sponson. R Simmie
