I've heard that the British tanks were fitted with a white cross on a red background. Use it by the Royal Army Medical Corps. Is this true? And what tanks are they?

First i've heard of it, could be when the British tanks were painted white/red/white vertical stripes on the front horns from 1918 onwards to distinguish them from British tanks captured by the Germans and used against the former owners

The only tank that I know of that this could conceivably apply to is the Mk IX infantry carrier. One planned use was in the ambulance role. But as the only 3 Mk IX's that arrived in France landed a few days before or after the Armistice, they never were used in either planned role.

One Mark IX was converted to a ambulance but was never used in action. In any case, the red cross is a red cross on a white background, not the other way around as described.

Yes indeed. White Cross on red ground would be Switzerland.
