but i guess I have too, so ill make tanks and armored cars in 1/35 but artillary and figures, stuff that is scarce in 1/35 will just have to be made in 1/72
Well, IMHO the Serbs look quite OK but the German Colonials rather useless. With Hät always providing only 8 poses in a box the mix between Germans and natives, officer and troopers is problematic. Why one trooper should shoot into the trees and one be kneeling as if receiving a cavalry charge, albeit without the benefit of a bayonet, is beyond me, as the Germans usually were in a defensive or ambush position. The main question of course is, where are the opponents, that is British colonials and the Indian division?
Werner, I think you are a little bit too harsh on HäT. TRue, their German Colonial set poses really looks like the standard Wargaming poses, with shooting and stabbing etc. But I think you have to remember that this is their main markets, not us WW1 Modellers who still are the monority users. Also, I think the fact that there is a German Colonial set in plastic, i.e. for a mass market, can only have a stimulating effect on the hobby. Not least because it - as you rightfully points out - cries out for opponents. That I am sure will come. And let's hope it will be Indian Troops!
A thing that all should know about HäT is that they really listen to people, they DO take good, friendly advice. I never came across anyone that has ever got a response from EMHAR - they seem to have their own agenda, and a good one at that! But HäT do.
So lobbying HäT WILL yield results, if the lobbying is supported by good and strong argument, that is!
Hat does have a very friendly system, I emailed them about 1/35 scale plastic soldiers, mainly I was wondering if they would scale up those wonderful 1/72 kits they have, and they said that they would think about it, even though 1/35 soldiers there would be less of them, and they would convert only the most popular kits, so lobbying to them helps, they always answer your emails, as for Emhar, I mailed them about CA1 Schneider and they responded with a very descriptive sentence: "the Ca1 Schneider is under design", worse I think Emhar is moving away from the ww1 area to more figures and such.
Peter is right, HaT is very "client-oriented" and what you should do is to go to their website and send them e-mail with your comments. They really listen. They really corrected some figures following mu advice (Austrian WWI heavy weapons, WWII Poles and WWII Romanians). Yes, they care a bit less about quality of their WWI range (WWII range, especially these WWII Germans are almost perfect), but nobody's perfect. I belive they earn much less from WWI than from WWII, so they can't invest their best (and maybe most expensive) sculptors into that... Cheers! G.
