Hello Peter

Nice photo, but it is not a Dürkopp. It is a
Orion-Wagen. I have this photo and others in my collection.   After the unsuccessful attempts at producing a tank around the Orion-Wagen, The German High Command OHL ordered the chassis already constructed, to be converted into Gelandewagens.

All the Best
Tim R.

interesting -- this vehicle is much larger than the photo of the Orion-Wagen armoured "car" (the one with "elephants feet" & turret) would indicate or is this a totally different machine ?  It doesn't seem to have the road-wheel out front for steering either.

I think it's the Orionwagen II.

Thats what I said.... The vehicle was re-designed from the original, with a new form of tracks and the absents of the front wheel.

All the best

That's just begging to be modelled! Anyone in possession of scale drawings?

In the new A7V book, the image of the prototype LK1 has a row of the Orionwagen based Munitionswagen shown in the background.

Hi Tim,

Are these other photos you mention of this munitionschlepper [tank] or just of the Orion-wagen itself.

If they're of the beast in question, any chance you could scan & post them here?

Thanks
