Not about the men in the trenches this time, but behind.
The picture shows, I think the discrepancy felt by most fighting men, especially the lower ranks, between 'us' and 'the brass'.

I have seen this picture before and if I remember the caption it read "runner recieving orders from officers" by inference I don't think they would have been that far behind the lines.If so the "runner" would have one hell of a distance to run !!!!!

Hi Baldwin,

yes, that is the caption (or some very much a like). I was intrigued by the flowers and the bottle...
More to come, from further behind the lines! (it's not my intention by the way to make a moral statement on the different 'life styles' between officers and privates. I presume it was just like that those days, a much more hierarchical and classy society than today, certainly in the armed forces).
