Harry Turtledoves "Great War" books

Hello
new to the site, was wondering has anybody given any thought to modeling a few of the scenes described in Harry Turtledoves "Great war " series, in which the Unitied states allied with the germans square off aginst the Confederate states, britian and france. The author is very descriptive when it comes to uniform colors, equipment, AFVs, planes, and even ships, Im planning on trying to model a few myself and was wondering if anyone had any input?

Well if you could quote some passages of the description of the machines/uniforms many can help.
P.S, Do these novels confront war, showing its pointlessness, or are they just a bit of fun?

Hugh,

I haven't read any of the Great War series but going by other Turtledove "alternate histories" they are more in the nature of "a bit of fun".

Tricky, tricky...
Well, here are my thoughts for the model "Barrels"...
Confederate:
Mark I - Airfix Mark I Male eith machine guns added onto the front and sponsons.
Mark II - '', w/turret from any other tank, gun from same Airfix kit.
Mark III - ''(latter), w/gun from original turret.
Mark IIII - '', w/ gun from polystyrene tube.
Mark V - Difficult to describe... ...Keep the lower hull (Airfix kit), but don't add on the top hull.
Replace it with plasticard that steeply slopes to the rear "plate" of the vehicle. Cut larger plasticard tube at the same angle as the plate and add on.
I'll do the USA ones later.
